For over 50 years, ACF has stood up for the Great Barrier Reef - stopping oil drilling in the 1960s, winning World Heritage protection, and taking governments to court over mega coal mines threatening the reef today.
In 1965, a handful of nature lovers took a stand to protect the Great Barrier Reef. A spark was lit and ACF was born.

ACF stood with Mirarr Traditional Owners to win national park status for Kakadu and halt the Jabiluka uranium mine, protecting a World Heritage treasure from uranium mining through blockades and decades of community action.
Franklin River
The Franklin River campaign transformed environmental activism in Australia, thousands of everyday people blockaded the dam, won a historic High Court victory in 1983, and sparked green political movements that inspired the world.
