Before he was elected Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese said he wanted his legacy to be "action on climate". Instead, he has pandered to the climate-wrecking coal and gas industry, walked away from climate action and put Australian communities in the firing line of climate disasters.

Call your Labor MP or Senator and tell them:

  • Albo has betrayed Australia and jeopardized our future by being weak and cowardly on climate
  • The only way to build a safe climate future is to get off toxic coal and gas!

Albo is failing you

The Albanese Government have just released their 2035 climate plan, critical laws that should have set us on a path to a safe, renewable powered future. Instead of showing bold leadership, Prime Minister Albanese has weakened Australia’s climate ambition, releasing a plan that does nothing to actually stop climate pollution.

Just days ago, his government also gave the final tick of approval to Woodside’s proposed North West Shelf gas extension to 2070, rubber-stamping the most polluting gas project in the Southern Hemisphere. Albo is allowing the North West Shelf to spew out staggering amounts of climate-wrecking gas pollution for forty more years. Air pollution from the plant is already damaging the irreplaceable 50,000-year-old Murujuga rock art that was recently World-Heritage listed.

Despite his big talk, Albo is cowardly walking away from climate action and not even bothering to hide it.

Climate damage is here. Communities across Australia are already bearing the brunt of deadly fires and floods, and it’s only going to get worse.

By pandering to climate-wrecking coal and gas companies like Woodside, Albo is selling out our future.

Demand action

This is not good enough. Call your local Labor MP or senator and demand they speak out for real action on climate!

If enough of us raise our voice together, we can force them to act.

Some tips on making an effective call to an MP:

  • Make sure to introduce yourself by telling them your name and where you live. They’ll pay more attention to you if they know you live in their electorate.
  • Be respectful but firm. The person you’re talking to might not be the decision-maker, but they will pass on your message if you’re clear and polite.
  • Now is the time to share your disappointment with Labor and why. Climate change harms all of us and it’s important our elected representatives know how this impacts the community they were elected by.
  • Tell them what action you want them to take. In this case, you might want them to speak out publicly about the need to reject all new coal and gas projects.
