New gas is a lose-lose – for the climate and our wallets.
It's been revealed that billions in overseas funds are fuelling the expansion of Australian gas exports, and creating staggering amounts of new climate pollution that fuel more extreme fires and floods.
Australian gas is being resold for huge profits. Last year alone, Japanese companies resold up to $14 billion of Australian gas with profits likely exceeding $1 billion.
Meanwhile gas prices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Victoria have almost qaudrupled since 2011. It’s no coincidence – since LNG exports began, Australia’s domestic gas prices have tripled.
And here’s the kicker: we don’t even need it. Existing gas projects to 2035 can power Australia for another 64 years.
The Australian Government has a simple way to fix this: commit to no new gas!

Together, we’ll make politicians listen to us, not polluters, and create a safe future for all Australians.
Petition demands
"To the Prime Minister, Energy Minister, Environment Minister and Treasurer:
End coal and gas in Australia to ramp up climate action. That means:
This decade, replacing existing coal, gas and uranium exports with a renewable-powered exports industry and climate-positive careers for communities
No new coal and gas projects or infrastructure
Stop spending public money on the fossil fuel industry – fund climate solutions instead."
