Ambassador
Clancy began his role as an ACF Ambassador by joining our team on a trip to Mataranka Springs on Mangarayi and Yangman Country to bear witness to the communities and ecosystems at risk if fracking is approved in the Northern Territory’s Beetaloo Basin. Fracking this region would detonate a climate bomb and threaten precious water resources and wildlife, but there's still time to stop it. Clancy is passionate about educating everyday Aussies about nature and helping them fall in love with our incredible wildlife, as well as sharing different ways to look after it.
About Clancy
Clancy Lester is bringing Australians face-to-face with the natural world, one short video at a time.
Growing up on Yorta Yorta country in rural Australia, Clancy was shaped by a deep love of nature and the kind of wonder that comes from watching Steve Irwin and David Attenborough documentaries as a kid. Today, he's one of Australia's most passionate environmental educators, reaching over 70,000 followers across social media with his infectious enthusiasm for native wildlife, making the case that every Australian can play a part in protecting it.
Through his organisation Bees and Blossoms, Clancy creates native bee habitats, delivers educational workshops, and advocates for nature-based climate solutions in urban and regional Australia. He's dedicated to helping everyday Australians fall in love with the more than 2,000 native bee species found across the country and rewilding the places we live, starting in our backyards.
Clancy's respect for Indigenous ecological knowledge is central to his work. His love for native bees grew from researching stingless bees alongside Yolŋu people in North-East Arnhem Land. He has long championed the idea that science and Indigenous knowledge go hand in hand.
He is also the director of '7Seasons', a documentary that celebrates Indigenous knowledge and the young people at the forefront of climate action. The film restores our connection to nature and to each other, spotlighting Wurundjeri and Boonwurrung wisdom as it delves into the climate crisis in Melbourne. Clancy's work has been featured across ABC, Channel 9, Channel 7, news.com.au, and everywhere in between.
