Imagine this: riding 4000km across the Australian outback on a humble e-bike. Fierce headwinds. White-knuckle encounters with road trains. All while wearing a pair of thongs.

That’s what Conrad Pattinson, co-founder of Vamos bikes, did in 2023 all while raising over $20,000 for ACF.

Since then, Conrad and Vamos have continued to be incredible supporters of ACF. This year, they were one of the major partners for Australia’s Biggest Bushwalk, donating an e-bike worth $5000 as a prize!

"We love supporting ACF as they’re one of Australia’s longest-standing organisations dedicated to restoring and protecting our favourite country in the world. Supporting ABBW this year felt like a great fit for Vamos and what we believe in,” Conrad said.

Conrad and Vamos are passionate about building a cleaner future for Australia. The e-bike ride across Australia in 2023 was inspired by Australia’s love affair with polluting cars.

“It blows my mind to see so many people get into their cars for a short trip,” said Conrad.

For Conrad, the trip was a way to reach the everyday Australian and get people thinking about their driving habits.

“The whole point of the trip was to show that if I can cross Australia on an e-bike wearing thongs, anyone can step out of their comfort zone.”

“For the Vamos team, e-bikes are all about making everyday transport more enjoyable and sustainable. We love riding anywhere — to the beach, getting to work, exploring new areas, and most importantly travelling sustainably while being able to park right out the front all the time.”

We’re incredibly grateful to Conrad and the team at Vamos for their generous support of ACF. Conrad says fighting for a clean energy future is critical to protecting Australia’s unique places.

“I’ve travelled overseas a lot and there’s a reason why I still live in Australia. It’s spectacular. Lots of moments on the bike trip, like standing on the cliffs overlooking the Great Australian Bight, made me think again how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful country.”
