Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has risked condemning the endangered Maugean skate to extinction.

In a knee-jerk move, he flagged special protections for industrial salmon farming in Macquarie Harbour despite evidence it’s causing the skate’s rapid demise.

It’s an appalling promise from a government with virtually nothing to show on nature protection at the end of a full 3-year term. No national EPA. No strong nature laws. More Aussie species closer to extinction.

We need to remind the Prime Minister of his government’s big, unfulfilled promises to better protect the animals, plants and places we love.

Send this pre-filled letter to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to make good on his nature promises. Every day without strong new laws risks Australia’s next extinction!

Big business cannot be allowed to set the terms for how oceans, forests and animals are protected in this country.

The people we elect must stop playing political football with threatened species, and deliver real protections now:

  • Strong laws with upfront protections for Australia’s 2,000+ threatened animals and plants and their homes.
  • A national EPA that catches lawbreakers and takes the politics out of big project assessments.
  • Funding to support the government's zero new extinctions commitment.
