The Northern Territory government, alongside the fossil fuel industry, is planning a massive gas processing and export facility for Middle Arm in Darwin Harbour – and the Albanese Government has promised a staggering $1.94 billion of public money to help make it happen.

Australia must replace polluting coal, gas and uranium with renewable energy this decade. Our government must stop handing billions of dollars of public money to polluting coal and gas companies.

Will you speak up for a safe and healthy future by making a submission to the senate inquiry assessing the Middle Arm plan?

By making a submission you can help show just how much community concern there is about the plan.

Make your submission personal. You can follow this structure if it helps:

  • Introduce yourself: who you are, where you live, and why you’re against new coal and gas
  • Explain your opposition to the Middle Arm project. You could include any of the following points that resonate with you:
    • There is a lack of free, prior and informed consent from the Larrakia Traditional Owners for the project.
    • Public money should be used for projects that protect people and planet, moving us towards a clear energy future – not enabling dirty gas expansion.
    • There needs to be a public enquiry established into Middle Arm, under Australia’s national nature laws, the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act.
  • Thank the committee for their time.

Submissions are due by Tuesday 31 October.
