Thanks for signing up to the platy-project!

By taking part you’ll help researchers understand more about the elusive platypus and how we can better protect them.

Here are all the resources you need to have the best chance of spotting a platypus.

Firstly, take a look through this toolkit – it talks you through how to pick a location, the right time and place, and how to stay safe while you’re searching.

Then, whether you see a platypus or not*, upload your findings to the platy-project database using this map. Attach a photo if you got one, and include notes about the habitat and conditions – what time of day was it? Was it sunny or overcast? In shallow or deep water? (*Please still add your attempt to the map even if you didn’t see one! Every data point helps.)

Finally, we love hearing about your platypus encounters! If you take any good photos or videos of platypus during the Platy-project month, please share them with us at platypus@acf.org.au – we’d love to use them on our social media channels and in other promotional material to help protect the platypus and other species.

Good luck, and happy spotting!
