Join Basha Stasak, Nature Program Manager for a briefing on how to write a powerful submission to the Senate Inquiry into the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Amendment (Standards and Assurance) Bill 2021.
The Morrison Government’s EPBC (Standards and Assurance) bill put before Parliament in late February is a small first step in improving our national environment laws. But it does little – if anything – to actually protect nature and wildlife in Australia, and it fundamentally ignores the recommendations from the independent review of our environment laws.
The legislation was referred straight to the Senate Environment and Communications Legislation Committee for inquiry. This is good news! It gives us a huge opportunity to improve the government’s proposed legislation through the submissions process – and ultimately secure the proper protections our wildlife need to thrive.
Together, let's show there is huge public demand for laws that actually protect our forests, rivers, oceans and wildlife.
