With a wealth of archival footage and interviews from first-hand sources, The Atom: A Love Affair brings the history of nuclear power to life with colour and complexity.

It covers the many ‘half-lifes’ of nukes, from white-hot technological saviour post-war to a source of incomparable disaster following the Three Mile Island and Chernobyl failures that inspired the rise of many environmental grassroots groups across the world.

Post-screening, you will have an opportunity to ask questions of:

  • Director Vicki Lesley who spent over a decade making the film
  • Former Greens Senator and author of Full Circle Power, Hope and the Return of Nature Scott Ludlam
  • ACF past President Professor Ian Lowe AO, who has been a national environment policy leader for well over a quarter of a century and is the author of Long Half Life, a new book exploring the nuclear industry in Australia.
