What does the future of Geelong look like? And how will we equitably respond to the many challenges and transitions that face our community due to climate change? Do you think that the community should have a louder voice when it comes to determining what the transition ahead means for our region?

Come along to a Trivia Night and Table Talk on the 26th of February from 6pm, at the Deck Hotel in Geelong to have some fun while adding your voice to what you think our region could become and connecting with others from this community who share your concerns. Tables/teams will be assembled on the night, so both individuals and groups are welcome.

A “Table Talk” is the first part of a co-design process and research project initiated through the Real Deal and being conducted by Sydney University. The Real Deal thinks that a future that supports everyone to live good lives, is best shaped by local communities with support from academia, business and government. Instead of large interest groups drowning out the voices of individuals, and profit being prioritised over people and planet — we need a Real Deal.

Table Talks are a way to capture your recollections of past challenges, present thoughts and what you’d like to see in the future. There is no “right” answer and you don’t have to be an expert, the process is designed to be short and easy and based on your personal experiences. You can find the three questions that form the Table Talk here

The Real Deal works to bring a diverse range of organisations (like us!) together to collectively build power from the ground up that benefits both people and the planet. We believe this process can create much needed change in our community by working together for the common good with unions, faith groups and other community-based organisations. For more info on the Real Deal, see www.arealdeal.org/geelong or click watch the video below.
