You got elected on a climate and extinction ticket. Past time to walk that walk. I’m already telling my grandchildren where to lay the blame for the lack of action since the alarm bells started ringing in earnest in the 1960s. Why don’t you show those future voters what can be done if political doors lock out the lobbyists?

I care deeply about the Bass Coast of Victoria which was once the home of the lyrebird in the deeply forested Gippsland hills. These hills are now bare and we must protect the places that have not been desecrated … stop the sand mining in the Westernport area – this has become a moonscape and it is heartbreaking to think of the wildlife habitat that is so unnecessarily obliterated. It’s not feral cats that are a danger to the existence of our precious wildlife, it is the thoughtless humans who think the dollar is more important. They are so WRONG.

This is our only planet there is no planet B. Therefore it’s imperative you take action immediately to address the climate issues facing the world. The previous government refused to take the threat of fossil fuels seriously and were rolled by the wave of Teal Independents. Don’t think it won’t happen to this government. People want governments to stop opening new coal, gas and oil mines NOW, not in 20 years. So show some integrity and act.

Stop new fossil fuel projects now. Stop subsidising fossil fuel companies. Be bold and courageous in climate action before it’s too late. Make Australia a leader nit a laggard.

Hi, I’m not sure there’s really any difference between Labor and Liberal after your first term. It seems like Labor are just as keen to continue avoiding their responsibilities for climate change as their predecessors.

“I’m concerned about the climate and extinction crises because the only thing we’re doing is destroying our home. Labor, stop the bulldozing of our bush and forests, and slash emissions now so we experience fewer floods, fires and droughts fuelled by climate change.
Allowing development of new fossil fuel projects in a warming world is insanity. You must implement a ban on all new fossil fuels projects immediately.

I sometimes wonder if the words are only that. It seems to me that a lot of Companies are greenwashing and that there is a terrible danger of the Government doing the same. Yes, this new Labor Government has done a fair bit on fisheries and marine parks. But there is so much more to do – including stopping new coal and oil extraction developments. The evidence is overwhelming – species extinction, climate change, destruction of environment in the name of ‘progress’. It has stop. Please do all you can for nature, the environment and the climate. Or there will be no tomorrow.

I am extremely worried about the lack of policy on climate change from the Liberal Party and the National Party.
Peter2023-08-03 21:46:24 +1000
As a Party member I beseech you to be stronger on climate – it won’t take much more inaction till I move to the Greens

Bring Julian Assange home to Australia.
Get a backbone Labor!
Stand up for journos telling the truth about govt atrocities for no reason at all.
Julian broke no law and is being held without charge!
Why do you you back this insanity?

Continue horse and deer culling in Kosciusko national park…

I’m concerned about the climate and extinction crises because we all need this planet to live and climate change is putting people at risk of becoming refugees as their homes become uninhabitable. Labor, stop the bulldozing of our bush and forests, and slash emissions now so we experience fewer floods, fires and droughts fuelled by climate change.

I’m concerned about the climate and extinction crises because, well, extinction crisis , do I need to say more ?? Labor, stop the bulldozing of our bush and forests, stop fracking and slash emissions now so we experience fewer floods, fires and droughts fuelled by climate change.”

It is imperative that nature and climate action receive immediate attention. This matter is urgent
Heather2023-08-03 21:18:11 +1000
We need strong environmental laws for nature.
Thanks.
Marie2023-08-03 21:17:39 +1000
someone else on here said it well, thank you Catherine, so allow me to repeat- “Please uphold the promises made by Labor at the last election to strengthen laws to protect our dwindling biodiversity and actions to reduce climate change impacts. That means a better EPBC Act with a climate trigger in place ASAP and NO MORECOAL or GAS exploration. We have no more time to waste. LISTEN TO THESCIENCE as you promised to do.”
rob2023-08-03 21:16:02 +1000
As a member of the human race, I care deeply about our country and our planet. Labor, please ensure strong new national laws that actually protect all the amazing places we are blessed to have in the country we call home, start restoring that which has been damaged and are enforced by an independent regulator.
Julie2023-08-03 21:12:00 +1000
Without nature, we are nothing. No economy, no profits, no bonuses, no donations, no elections. Clean it up or lose it all.
Elle2023-08-03 21:04:07 +1000
The predictions for our future are not great. Please give us a reason to have hope.
Linda2023-08-03 21:03:52 +1000
For the love of all creatures great and small including human, please put more effort into reducing the effects of climate change before it is too late.
Deana2023-08-03 20:58:24 +1000
Australians have voted for you to take action on Climate change. It’s happening now. We need stronger action to invest in renewables, phase out fossil fuels. Please don’t let us down.
Evol2023-08-03 20:57:14 +1000
Come on. More gas, more carbon? Really? We’ll be struggling to deal with the temperature rises we’ve already created. Get real Labor.
Anne2023-08-03 20:56:55 +1000
I’m 87 and after all these years i can’t believe that after all the lack of response on climate change from the Coalition the Labor Party is not taking climate change seriously! It’s the most important issue that the country faces and if climate change isn’t addressed seriously then all other issues become irrelevant! Labor’s letting us all down! Who would have thought!
William2023-08-03 20:54:42 +1000
I vote for policies that are based on science – the world cannot have new coal & gas. As a parent/doctor, I want our kids to have a safe, healthy future and see the splendors of our rivers, reefs, forests and wildlife. Labor, be the leaders we need to protect planetary and human health this decade!
Ying2023-08-03 20:54:01 +1000
“As a gardener I care deeply about climate change and the impact it is having on the oceans , forests and the worlds weather. Labor, please ensure strong new national laws that actually require the phasing out of fossil fuels and legislate new laws taking into account the impacts of climate change. Plus an independent regulator to enforce these laws! ”
Raymond2023-08-03 20:40:03 +1000
You can either approve new coal and gas mines, or save the planet. You choose and be judged accordingly..
