As local groups we’re working on structuring ourselves in a way that helps us achieve our big goals to protect nature and climate. People are taking up roles in their groups that are focused on changing the story, fixing the system and building people power.

Through July we’ll be holding inductions for these roles. This webinar is designed for people who want to help develop their groups’ efforts around strengthening people power.

Why do groups need people taking on roles focused on strengthening people power?

These roles focus on keeping the group healthy and strong, and involve:

  • Developing group norms that help the group do its work (internal communication, regular meetings, decision making processes, etc)
  • Monitoring group health (group health workshop and survey)
  • Identifying and developing potential leaders that could take on aspects of the work
  • Identifying training needs and help source relevant training
  • Ensuring that the activities of the group include a good balance social activities, training and political advocacy
