Public submissions on the government's South Coast Marine Park plan close Sunday 16 June.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect a critical stretch of Australia’s globally significant Great Southern Reef – from east of Bremer Bay to the South Australian border – and to make sure future generations can enjoy WA’s much-loved south coast.
Many marine animals that live on this stretch of WA's coast are found nowhere else on earth, including the ruby seadragon. Its a safe haven and breeding ground for threatened icons like the southern right whale and Australian sea lion.
Send the pre-written submission (or re-write in your own words) to:
- Show your support for establishing a world-class South Coast Marine Park
- Urge the WA government to extend sanctuary protection to more threatened wildlife hotspots, and make the whole park oil and gas-free, and
- Work with the federal Albanese Government to establish strong national nature laws, that better protect WA's seas, bush and wildlife outside of designated reserves.
WA’s beaches, bush and wildlife are the envy of the world. But we must speak up to keep it that way.
The South Coast Marine Park is a crucial missing link needed to protect Western Australia’s unique southern reefs and wildlife – send your submission today!
