As bushfires burn, so many communities are hurting deeply.
But right behind the waves of fire are waves of courage, kindness and resilience. Of communities coming together, cooking meals for firefighters, opening homes to strangers and tending to injured wildlife.
These fires must strengthen our resolve to come together, demand climate action and look after each other and the planet.
That’s why the young leaders behind the massive September 20 #ClimateStrike have called snap actions in support of everyone affected by bushfires and the climate crisis.
When communities come together – to grieve, rest, share concerns, talk, listen, and hold one another close – there is hope. Hope that we can stop the climate crisis – and commitment, together, to do so.
Let’s sit shoulder to shoulder and peacefully remind our politicians and the coal and gas corporations that we hold them responsible for their inaction on climate damage – they need to end digging and burning dirty fossil fuels to stop tragic events like this from getting even worse.
Bring your favourite comfy cushion, your best signs, your friends, colleagues and family, and together let's show solidarity with everyone impacted by the fires and the climate crisis.
This is an independently run event hosted by our ally Friends of the Earth.
