Hey you!

Would you like to complete an easily accessed short bushwalk through the coastal bushland with great views, Aboriginal heritage sites, industrial heritage, and a ship wreck?

If so, then

Come and join ACF Tasmania South for an easy 6km return walk to Shag Bay on Hobart's Eastern Shore!
We will be starting from the Geilston Bay boat ramp car park at 10AM on Sunday 10 October 2021.

The track is suitable for all members of the family (unfortunately dogs are not allowed at Shag Bay).

And to make things more fun,

We will also introduce you to a couple of Phone Apps, such as iNaturalist and Geocaching, that will enhance your appreciation of your nature experience!

Hope to see you there!!

In the meantime, whilst awaiting an awesome time be had...

Activity Plan for Sustainable Bedlam Walls Bushland Reserve Management

Shag Bay is an inlet on the River Derwent near Geilston BayTasmania, and is within the East Risdon State Reserve .[1] The area around Shag Bay contains a number of Aboriginal Tasmanian shell middens.[2] A bone meal fertiliser factory was established in Shag Bay in the early 1900s. In January 1915, its boiler exploded, resulting in two deaths of two people associated with the factory.[3] The brigantine built in 1814 HMS Nelson was towed to Shag Bay in 1920 to be broken up after it finished its use as a coal hulk.[4]
