You are invited to join us for a picnic and rally to protest Viva’s floating gas import terminal.  The state election campaign officially kicks off in November, and we want to make sure our politicians and candidates know that we reject Viva’s terminal and want a better plan for our city.

It’s also an opportunity to celebrate our wins this year and for us to thank you for your efforts. Over 2000 of you wrote a submission to the inquiry panel, and over 100 fronted up to the hearing to make your point in person. We made a group presentation to the panel and heard Viva’s position be questioned by experts. Every time you clicked a link, signed a petition and turned up to an event you made it harder for this project to be approved.

We think the tide is turning, and we’d love for you to join us in closing out the year.

The event will start at 11am at Steampacket gardens with some speeches and a protest walk down to Eastern Beach.  We’ll return to Steampacket around 12:30pm to start the picnic and hear from guest speaker Kelly O'Shannassy, CEO of the Australian Conservation Foundation who was born and raised in Geelong, music, performances, poems and more.
