Sign the People's Voice for climate action

Safe, healthy communities depend on a healthy planet. Let’s get on with the climate solutions that are here, now, and ready to scale in Australia.

Sign the People's Voice for climate action!

We're working with people from all walks of life to capture powerful stories about why people want the Australian Government to act, and show just how many of us care.

Together, we urge all Members and Senators in the Australian Parliament to:

  • Power our communities and transport with clean energy. Replace coal and gas with renewable energy in the next decade.
  • Send our sunshine around the world with clean energy exports like green hydrogen, steel and aluminium.
  • Save our big backyard. Protect and restore our forests, wetlands and mangroves for our climate and for the animals that call them home.

I love to get outside and enjoy nature, hear the birds and see the trees. We all need a safe place to live.

I believe the science that tells us the planet will be seriously destroyed by global warming – and this will affect all animal and plant species. Destruction of environments all over the world will lead to climate refugees, insufficient food, decline of or extinction of animals , including humans. It’s happening already. I want to help mitigate anthropomorphic causes of climate change by saying “No” to fossil fuels snd “Yes” to renewables.

Allowing global warming to continue will make life difficult for humans, very expensive to survive and ultimately cause the collapse of economies, societies and cultures on a global scale.

Surviving unlimited global warming will not be possible for animals whether domestic or wild as their ecosystems collapse or cannot be maintained. The extinctions which are already occurring on an unprecedented scale, except for perhaps the one which brought about the end of the dinosaurs, will rapidly accelerate.

Action to mitigate global warming has been taken slowly by governments but especially slowly in Australia. The interests being served are largely illusory in the case of keeping people in regional areas employed. There are very few mining workers. The main beneficiaries are owners ie large share holders. The gains they make now at the expense of all the inhabitants of this Earth of moderate and lesser means, will perhaps not be able to be enjoyed by the end of this century.

What is still a wonderful and truly awe inspiring planet must not be allowed to be ruined for the sake of the greed of a privileged few. Some people are playing with the idea that the barren expanses of the Moon or Mars can provide a safe exit from a hostile, ruined Earth. They forget that these places will remain even more unliveable than the utterly degraded Earth. There is no Planet B. Permanent life which depends on an immensely complex intertwining of climates, micro climates and multitudes of co-dependent life forms, exists only here on Earth. It has taken millions of years to evolve and the same would be true elsewhere-if the conditions were right. They are not.

The richness of this planet should not be allowed to be destroyed so that the privileged 1 to 5 % can further indulge themselves with banalities like mansions and super yachts. Even the infrastructure they need to survive in style will ultimately collapse without action now.

We need to save our planet for our kids and grandkids!! Action must be taken now to convert to renewable energy sources, maintain our remnant forests and waterways, develop and maintain vast green zones across the planet’s cities and countrysides to promote the cooling of our planet, thus arresting the changes in our climate so our offspring have a cooler, cleaner, healthy environment with sustainable energy, food and water sources.

There is nothing more important than protecting the longevity of our planet which provides a safe and beautiful place for us all to live. All of this is at incredibly urgent risk, so there’s no alternative than to take climate action seriously.

We humans have a duty of care for our environment. We have one last chance now to act for the benefit of all and protect the world, not just for future generations, but for all species on this wonderful blue green planet! As a grandmother I want my grandaughter Agnes to see all our unique flora and native animals and to be able to show her grandchildren and then theirs. We have the innovation and skills and resources to be world leaders in clean energy. We should be leading the way, not being dragged behind burning fossil fuels until we’re burnt out!

For me, loss of biodiversity, and the impact of climate change on our food systems, are the biggest concerns.

To make the best use of Australia’s clean energy resources while supporting and encouraging those talented to do this. In this way, I pray God helps us to reduce extinctions and worsening fires, floods and rising sea levels.

The sooner we act on the climate emergency and reduce fossil fuels the more of the environment we can save and the more livable our planet will be.

It’s a precious Earth we live on and humans have played a major role in its destruction. It’s time to take action! Stop polluting fossil fuel industry and protect our climate and biodiversity not only in Australian but the entire world. Our politicians need to pressure other world leaders to STOP the destruction so future generations have an Earth full of biodiversity and clean air. STOP destroying our Great Barrier Reef, South America’s Amazon Rainforrest and the Indonesian Rainforrests too. My 5year old son wants to explore all those natural environments. Don’t let it be too late. ACT NOW!
Kate 2021-09-09 23:21:49 +1000
I’d very much like to see the great barrier reef last for many more centuries. Burning coal and all other fossil fuels needs to stop as soon as possible if this has a chance of happening.
