Join ACF's Community Organising and Climate Campaigns teams on 5 June for some food and drinks, and get an exclusive briefing on the progress of our campaign to end coal and gas expansions.
Woodside’s Burrup Hub would be a disaster for nature, First Nations culture, and our climate.
This gas expansion is the most polluting new coal, gas or oil proposal in the Southern Hemisphere. Woodside’s plans would put 54 threatened animal species at risk and impact nearby Murujuga rock carvings dating back at least fifty thousand years.
Since 2021 we’ve been advocating against this dangerous gas expansion, including at dozens of Rise Up rallies over our twelve days of action this May. Thousands of people – like and including you – have been taking action to demand no more coal and gas.
We’re now at a critical juncture where the government might approve two major components of Woodside’s Burrup Hub – the biggest carbon bomb proposal in Australia – in a matter of weeks or months.
When this happens, we will need to act quickly to ramp up the pressure. That's why we're building a Rapid Response Network - a group of people who are ready and willing to take action at short notice to stop dangerous projects like Burrup Hub.
This event will start at 6pm, and ACF will provide non-alcoholic drinks and nibbles! You are welcome to BYO your own alcoholic drinks. You'll get the chance to get to know other likeminded nature and climate advocates.
At 6:30pm, Meg Good, one of ACF's Climate Campaigners, will brief the group on our campaign progress.
Catherine & Dan, your Community Organiser and National Organising Manager, will then brief you on the sorts of actions we'll be asking you to take. Don't worry if you feel a bit nervous - there will be a range of actions you can take, some very quick, some more time consuming. If you're interested at all - come along! We're a friendly bunch.
By RSVPing to this event, we'll sign you up to an exclusive Rapid Response Network mailing list so you can stay up to date with what's happening.
This unique trial will see our community come together to test new ways to flex our muscle and put pressure on the government at critical moments. You don't want to miss out!
If you can't make this special briefing but are ready to take action at short notice to stop this dangerous project, you can still sign up to be part of the RRN by emailing [email protected].
