With the Queensland state budget due on 15 June, now is the perfect time to unite with our friends in the Queensland Community Alliance (QCA) for the Budget Assembly with Deputy Premier Steven Miles.

By filling up the Zoom room, we will show our government that there is a huge movement of community members speaking up for a Queensland that is bold, ambitious, renewable and just.

On the night you will:

  • Be welcomed with a musical performance and a Welcome to Country
  • Hear from three amazing speakers on some of the big issues Queenslanders face, along with the QCA’s plans to address these challenges:
    • Gillian Marshall, Executive Manager of Community at Logan East Community Neighbourhood, on the need for an emergency funding boost for community neighbourhood centres
    • Marlon Bran with the Latin American Catholic Community, on how funding for a workplace rights education program can support workers from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities against workplace exploitation
    • Peter Ong, Secretary of the Electrical Trades Union on increasing investment in a just transition of our energy system, to create future-proof jobs and protect our climate
  • Hear the Deputy Premier’s response to the Alliance’s three asks, and what commitments to ask his government will make to the community.

Our huge presence will show our Deputy Premier just how many Queenslanders want action to support our communities and our precious nature as we recover from Covid-19.

See you there!
