Queenslanders, our sunshine state has the tools and talent to become a renewable energy superpower – and shift away from digging and burning fossil fuels that drive climate impacts.

Ramping up climate solutions now will create long-term jobs in our regions, help restore our incredible forests and slash climate pollution this decade. But we need to act now or let the opportunity slip through our fingers.

Sign the petition. We need thousands of us to call on our state government to invest in the solutions and make Queensland a climate and nature champion. Together Queensland CAN!

For more information on how Queensland can slash pollution and create jobs in future industries this decade, see the brand new Queensland CAN! report commissioned by ACF, Queensland Conservation Council and World Wildlife Fund Australia.

Petition demands

We call upon the Queensland Government to:

  1. Slash Queensland’s climate pollution by at least half this decade
  2. Make Queensland a renewable energy superpower and creating 100,000 jobs in climate solutions
  3. Protect Queensland’s nature to store carbon and establishing an Environmental Protection Authority for Queensland to oversee and investigate environmental decisions

Jobs we can create in climate solutions

Queensland can and should lead the way in renewable energy.
Our tropical climate and vast expanses of unused land make us an ideal place to gather solar and wind power.
The earth is demanding that we reduce global warming. It must happen whether we like it or not. Let us be leaders in developing the technologies for the future.

I want Queensland to be a climate champion because we need to act now to ensure a livable environment for the future. And I love our beautiful special planet!

I want to support Queensland to become climate champions as our future depends on it. Our greed and wealth shouldn’t be the motivation for decision making. We are smarter than that. We have been taking more than giving back for years and our Earth is suffering. We are in deficit and it time to change.

I want Queensland to be a nature and climate champion because Queensland is well placed to seize the opportunities in this global energy and decarbonisation journey and also because Queensland is vulnerable to increased economic and social disruptions arising from the impacts of climate climate (increased intensity and frequency of violent weather events).
