Queenslanders, our sunshine state has the tools and talent to become a renewable energy superpower – and shift away from digging and burning fossil fuels that drive climate impacts.
Ramping up climate solutions now will create long-term jobs in our regions, help restore our incredible forests and slash climate pollution this decade.
But we need to act now and not let the opportunity slip through our fingers.
Sign the petition. We need thousands of us calling on our state government to invest in making Queensland a climate and nature champion.
Working together, Queensland CAN!

Petition demands
We call upon the Queensland Government to:
-
Make our climate safe: Slash Queensland's climate pollution by at least half this decade; slash methane emissions from existing coal and gas infrastructure; ban new coal and gas infrastructure
-
Protect our nature: Establish an Environmental Protection Authority for Queensland; protect 100 hectares of Queensland forest this decade
-
Clean up our exports and create green jobs: Create a renewable-powered exports industry to replace coal and gas exports, with 100,000 climate-positive careers for communities; guarantee jobs for fossil fuel workers

We have so many natural resources that need protecting – including the GBR. Protect them and enjoy the benefits of tourism, and potentially a green status which will encourage many to choose Queensland products.
It’s time we took Climate Change seriously.
I want Queensland to finally develop its full potential in delivering green energy and technologies, and to cease the destruction of its unique environment.
While I understand the royalties (re: coal mining help support essential services across our state, it is also this fact that is undermining our future. The talent and passion of many Queenslanders, rich natural assets (wind, solar, wave technology etc.) combined with the obvious desire of people to move towards a greener and more sustainable future, needs to be tackled. We no longer have the luxury to put it off! The climate is changing and we all need to act now! The loss of biodiversity is significantly increasing and it is this imbalance that we are facing ourselves. Please be brave – we stand beside you to make the difficult decisions and create a future that better balances life.
With all the abundance of solar and wind energy, here, Queensland CAN be a climate and nature champion! 👍🤩
Its very important to me that everyone contributes to changing our energy supply to renewables as soon as possible so we can make a differance to our situation. Queensland is in an ideal situation to be a leader in investing in solutions to make Queensland a climate nature Champion and I expect our Queensland Government to have already taken action on this considering how long we have known about this situation.
Where are the electrical vehicle subsidies and why is it still so expensive to get an EV? We feel like we live in a third world country in comparison to Europe, USA and the UK. This needs to be addressed too.
I’m passionate about leaving our children and grandchildren a wonderful world to live in. We absolutely have to do more to combat climate change. We are running out of time.
Climate change and that humans are causing it is scientific fact also that we now must act quickly due to our inaction to minimise more adverse weather events.
I want Queensland to be a forerunner in the climate battle to ensure my grandchildren have a bright, healthy and secure future.
I want Queensland to become a climate change and nature champion because it just makes sense, Nothing else makes any sense, as has already been proven by the fact that we have already lost so many species and our climate has definitely changed world wide. Ignoring it and pandering to the mining companies and big business is nothing short of treason. You must put Australia first please.
Unless emissions peak then decline, our descendants are facing the largest catastrophe since Noah.
We’re suppose to be The Sunshine State. I want to see The Sunshine State shine.
