Queenslanders, our sunshine state has the tools and talent to become a renewable energy superpower – and shift away from digging and burning fossil fuels that drive climate impacts.

Ramping up climate solutions now will create long-term jobs in our regions, help restore our incredible forests and slash climate pollution this decade.

But we need to act now and not let the opportunity slip through our fingers.

Sign the petition. We need thousands of us calling on our state government to invest in making Queensland a climate and nature champion.

Working together, Queensland CAN!

To learn more about how we replace coal and gas with clean energy and create jobs in future industries now, explore the Queensland CAN! report commissioned by ACF, the Queensland Conservation Council and World Wildlife Fund Australia.

Petition demands

We call upon the Queensland Government to:

  • Make our climate safe: Slash Queensland's climate pollution by at least half this decade; slash methane emissions from existing coal and gas infrastructure; ban new coal and gas infrastructure
  • Protect our nature: Establish an Environmental Protection Authority for Queensland; protect 100 hectares of Queensland forest this decade
  • Clean up our exports and create green jobs: Create a renewable-powered exports industry to replace coal and gas exports, with 100,000 climate-positive careers for communities; guarantee jobs for fossil fuel workers

Jobs we can create in climate solutions

It’s time for us to shift away from digging and burning fossil fuels that drive climate impacts like extreme floods and droughts. Our sunshine state has the tools and talent to become a renewable energy superpower – and protect our communities, nature and way of life from climate impacts.

Make Queensland a climate and nature champion. Do not approve any more coal mining!

Too much destruction of habitat with loss of bird and animal life has already happened. Queensland needs to turn this around now with a much greater focus on renewable energy and reductions in fossil fuel production, being an obvious major contributor to our increasing levels in climate change.

Queensland should be a leader in climate change and nature conservation due to its vast array of natural wonders, such as the daintree rainforest and cassowary coast, the great barrier reef, great dividing range, stunning national parks and world class beaches. first an foremost, the environment should be factored into this for future generations, but in the long run, a transition to renewable energy helps not just our budgets but the nation’s economy

We have already lost too much green space.Too many houses and high rise with no spaces for shrubs and small trees between ,so too much heat radiated and rain run off causing local flooding. There needs to be a massive rethink in town planning.. I’m fortunate to live where there are trees and open space. I would die if I had to live in a concrete jungle.Too many birds and animals have been lost.
