Queenslanders, our sunshine state has the tools and talent to become a renewable energy superpower – and shift away from digging and burning fossil fuels that drive climate impacts.

Ramping up climate solutions now will create long-term jobs in our regions, help restore our incredible forests and slash climate pollution this decade. But we need to act now or let the opportunity slip through our fingers.

Sign the petition. We need thousands of us to call on our state government to invest in the solutions and make Queensland a climate and nature champion. Together Queensland CAN!

For more information on how Queensland can slash pollution and create jobs in future industries this decade, see the brand new Queensland CAN! report commissioned by ACF, Queensland Conservation Council and World Wildlife Fund Australia.

Petition demands

We call upon the Queensland Government to:

  1. Slash Queensland’s climate pollution by at least half this decade
  2. Make Queensland a renewable energy superpower and creating 100,000 jobs in climate solutions
  3. Protect Queensland’s nature to store carbon and establishing an Environmental Protection Authority for Queensland to oversee and investigate environmental decisions

Jobs we can create in climate solutions

To the Premier, for all our sakes please leave the land we all share in a better state than when you were born.

Stop giving developers and mining companies the right to destroy our fragile and fragmented natural environment. The jobs they promise never eventuate, not even in boom times, they are simply profit takers and killers of flora and fauna.

It is vital that Queensland take a leadership role in its commitment to Climate action , especially as we are custodians of the Great Barrer Reef, and in the responsibility we have to the people of Torres Strait who are already facing sea level rises brought on by Climate Change.

We are already behind in implementing measures to set up for changing to clean energy. This can maintain and create jobs and industry if done well. Time to step up – for our future, our diverse environment and even our economy and international reputation.

I want Queensland to be a champion of renewable energy and for the greedy landowners and the government to stop mass clearing of trees for rearing of cattle. Go plant based!!
