Join Canberra climate groups at the entrances to Parliament House on Tuesday 7 February for our regular Pollie Watch event - to reinforce to the pollies the community demands urgent climate action!

The theme this time will be the national 'Dirty Dozen' campaign - calling out our worst polluters and demanding they be reined in by the Federal Government with a strong Climate Safeguard Mechanism. See more on the campaign at: https://www.cana.net.au/dirtydozen

At around 9am, we will move to the Parliament lawns for the theatrical part of the action - calling on the 'dirty dozen' to pull their weight on climate action rather than leave it up to the community.

The safeguard mechanism is part of a federal policy framework intended to manage and reduce carbon emissions from Australia’s biggest climate polluters. It sits alongside other schemes including the Emissions Reduction Fund that buys carbon credits and encourages projects to be developed that will remove or cut carbon. Australian carbon credits can also be purchased by the facilities captured under the safeguard mechanism to help meet their emissions reduction obligations.
