ACF Community Southern Tablelands invites you to another a wonderful platypus spotting event!
Earlier this year, on the Mulwaree River, our local group had the luck to spot a platypus. How amazing! We're hoping we can recreate the magic with another platypus spotting event, this time on the Wollondilly River.
In partnership with scientists at UNSW, ACF are asking local groups and individuals to get out to their local waterways and try to spot platypus. This data will then give scientists a greater understanding of current platypus populations, and will contribute to broadening our knowledge of one Australia's most-loved native animals. All are welcome, there is no required level of experience or involvement in the group.
We've heard rumours of platy being spotted in this stretch of the Wollondilly. It's time to see if we can confirm them! Bring a chair, rug, maybe binoculars too!
Platypus are most active during dusk - so we like our chances of spotting one. Afterwards, you are welcome to join us for dinner at the Soldiers Club or the Bowlo, depending what we feel like on the day.
This event will be held just where the Goulburn parkrun normally is, at Marsden Weir Park. There are plenty of parking spots right at the park!
