The #PlatypusEmojiNow competition is now closed. Thank you to everyone who took part! The winner will be announced on ACF's social media accounts.

The platypus is one of Australia's most loved and iconic animals. But habitat destruction and climate change is taking a toll on this unique creature, and the platypus could soon be at risk of extinction.

To raise awareness and support for better protection of the platypus, we’re applying to Unicode (the international emoji board) to create a standard platypus emoji for people to use in their everyday communication.

And we want to see your designs!

Enter our competition for the chance to be the creator behind the world’s first platypus emoji.

Entries close 11:59pm AEDT on 11 December 2020.

The winning design will be submitted to Unicode to create a standard platypus emoji that everyone can use.

Plus you'll also win this beautiful artwork of the platypus by Tasmanian cartoonist Christopher Downes:
