The Morrison Government plans to weaken our brightest renewable funds – the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) and Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) – to let them splash cash into fossil fuels

Investors won’t back gas – neither should Australian taxpayers.

Independent and Centre Alliance representatives in our Parliament are powerful voices for public policy in the public interest. They can do a great job in holding the Government accountable.

Their voices and their votes will be critical in the next three months as we work to keep our brightest renewable energy funds clean – and stop the Coalition giving public money to their mates in gas!

We call on Independent MPs Helen Haines, Zali Steggall, Andrew Wilkie and Rebecca Sharkie (Centre Alliance), and crossbench Senators Jacqui Lambie, Rex Patrick and Stirling Griff (Centre Alliance) to use their voices and votes and stand up for the Clean Energy Finance Corporation by:

  • Keep our clean energy agencies clean – don’t change their remit to support fossil fuels.
  • Maintain their independence – don’t give the Minister powers to override investment decisions of the independent board
  • Retain the requirement to deliver a return on investment to Australians – investors won’t back gas, and neither should taxpayers.

Let’s encourage Independents in the House of Representatives to use their voices to speak up for the public interest, as they have on so many important issues.

And let’s encourage Independents in the Senate to use their votes to protect our clean energy funds, as they have in the past.

I am seriously disappointed with the Boys Club that is our Federal Govt! They seem only to be interested in things male, white and whatever they can make money on.
I am a female and I vote, I hope they remember that!

I dont want my money wasted on propping up gas and coal. This is not clean energy and gives no return on our investment nor sustainable jobs. I’m appalled by this legislation. Please reject it.

We have so much going for our country to produce Clean Energy which creates thousands of jobs with projects all ready to go. Why are we still insisting gas to be a good source over alternative clean energy? Wake up Politicians

No more fossil fuel investment, avoid the stranded assets of the future. The future of Australia is renewables.

Gas is fossil and should stay in the ground.

Gas is still a dirty fossil fuel so we can do better. What does this government have against cheap carbon-neutral renewable energy?!

Gas emissions are almost as high as coal when leakage is counted and is a major contributor to global warming. We do not need fossil fuels for reliable and economical energy. Invest all out in renewables for our future, in Australia and globally.
