The Morrison Government plans to weaken our brightest renewable funds – the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) and Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) – to let them splash cash into fossil fuels

Investors won’t back gas – neither should Australian taxpayers.

Independent and Centre Alliance representatives in our Parliament are powerful voices for public policy in the public interest. They can do a great job in holding the Government accountable.

Their voices and their votes will be critical in the next three months as we work to keep our brightest renewable energy funds clean – and stop the Coalition giving public money to their mates in gas!

We call on Independent MPs Helen Haines, Zali Steggall, Andrew Wilkie and Rebecca Sharkie (Centre Alliance), and crossbench Senators Jacqui Lambie, Rex Patrick and Stirling Griff (Centre Alliance) to use their voices and votes and stand up for the Clean Energy Finance Corporation by:

  • Keep our clean energy agencies clean – don’t change their remit to support fossil fuels.
  • Maintain their independence – don’t give the Minister powers to override investment decisions of the independent board
  • Retain the requirement to deliver a return on investment to Australians – investors won’t back gas, and neither should taxpayers.

Let’s encourage Independents in the House of Representatives to use their voices to speak up for the public interest, as they have on so many important issues.

And let’s encourage Independents in the Senate to use their votes to protect our clean energy funds, as they have in the past.

Each generation is here for only a short time, it is incumbent upon each of us to protect the earth for the generations to come – not reap it all as quickily as possible for maximum short term profits!

Sack Angus Taylor for incompetence and total failure to understand voters’ needs and wishes. He is a danger to the community.

Using the CEFC to fund fossil fuels would be stealing, wouldn’t it?

To the Australian Parliament.

Gas is a dirty, polluting fossil fuel. Get real and don’t cling on to 20thC technology, when the planet needs the new clean green & economically superior 21stC energy alternatives.

We as country must make the change from dirty to clean energy solutions for our future generations

We need to protect our future, and our children’s future. We need more investment in renewables, and divestment in fossil fuels, including gas.

Yet another attack on clean energy – when will the Coalition listen to the people it governs for, not the fossil fuel industry. The so-called gas-led recovery will be hard-pressed to produce 5000 new jobs.
