The Morrison Government plans to weaken our brightest renewable funds – the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) and Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) – to let them splash cash into fossil fuels

Investors won’t back gas – neither should Australian taxpayers.

Independent and Centre Alliance representatives in our Parliament are powerful voices for public policy in the public interest. They can do a great job in holding the Government accountable.

Their voices and their votes will be critical in the next three months as we work to keep our brightest renewable energy funds clean – and stop the Coalition giving public money to their mates in gas!

We call on Independent MPs Helen Haines, Zali Steggall, Andrew Wilkie and Rebecca Sharkie (Centre Alliance), and crossbench Senators Jacqui Lambie, Rex Patrick and Stirling Griff (Centre Alliance) to use their voices and votes and stand up for the Clean Energy Finance Corporation by:

  • Keep our clean energy agencies clean – don’t change their remit to support fossil fuels.
  • Maintain their independence – don’t give the Minister powers to override investment decisions of the independent board
  • Retain the requirement to deliver a return on investment to Australians – investors won’t back gas, and neither should taxpayers.

Let’s encourage Independents in the House of Representatives to use their voices to speak up for the public interest, as they have on so many important issues.

And let’s encourage Independents in the Senate to use their votes to protect our clean energy funds, as they have in the past.

Enough is enough!!! When will politician start caring about our future. Clean energy is the only way. What an embarrassment that our carbon emissions per capita are some of the worst on the world. Governments should be ashamed!!! Time to change is NOW. We have no time to waste!!!

Gas is NOT an interim solution: too much methane generated in the process and carbon emitting.

Sometimes in life we need to do what we know is right Change is difficult for humans but it is our one constant. There can be many jobs in new technology a with it a brighter future for the world. Why explore space? Because we are on a self destruct pathway unless we change. How many jobs are linked to the web? Technology, renewable , clean energy and sustainability are already providing jobs. Let’s put money into living on earth and let earth live. Thanks for taking time to read this and for your efforts to achieve this. Let’s not be scared to believe in change.

Has the Morrison government already forgotten the bushfires of last year? Climate change is not going away and gas is not the answer!

I am completely opposed to public funds being used for the gas industry. We need to be investing in clean energy – renewables and battery storage, not fossil fuels.
