Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_web.jpg

Palm cockatoos are pretty incredible birds.

To woo lady palm cockatoos, males make drumsticks from branches and seed pods and beat their own rhythms while whooping and flapping their wings. Their rosy cheeks glow vibrant red when they’re excited.

But bulldozers are making them vulnerable to extinction. This cannot go on.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

I want future generations to know these beautiful creatures first hand not from a book or video. Please take action to protect their habitat otherwise we will lose them forever.

We need laws that will stop companies destroying these palm cockatoo’s habitat. Laws that will compel decision makers to make decisions that help, not harm, our living world. Laws that will give these creatures a voice. Soon it will be too late and you will have been part of the destruction of these magnificent creatures. Take a stand, do the right thing. Please…..you have the power to do this.

This is only one of a number of species that are endangered due to habitat loss – most often destruction of habitat through logging. There are also the additional pressures of pollution & climate change, particularly in relation to our marine creatures. I call on the Labor Party to be visionary & vigilant about environment protection so that are lives & those of our fellow species are not diminished due to short term monetary profits. Thank you.

When any living thing goes missing from our earth we lose something from ourselves. It is a wake up call that all is not well with the environment in which we live. If we are to live healthy lives we have to maintain a healthy environment. We need to stop destroying the very thing that we need to live, our environment. Please don’t let us lose this beautiful creature,

Australia has some of the most unique and diverse wildlife in the world. However, our biodiversity is suffering and the current government is not doing enough to protect it. We need real change on this issue.

For the protection of our rapidly diminishing native animals, stronger laws MUST be enforced lest we lose the lot.

There is pride and patriotism in protecting our native animals, plants and the country. Take your greedy hands out of your pockets and spend our money on something other than yourselves and the greedy businesses puppeting you around.

Hi Andrew, there’s nothing romantic about extinction, so keep these palm cockatoos drumming. Cheers Janet

Why don’t you act for Australia and stop allowing invasive and destructive practices. I am not a lone voice most of the people I talk to are disgusted in this governments record of ignorance.

We urgently need better and stronger Environmental laws to protect nature and the animals for future generations. I was lucky enough to see some Palm Cockatoos when I was up Cape York 2 years ago but this might soon be a thing of the past if you don’t act! THANK YOU

Australia is in urgent need of strong national environment laws to protect our unique places and wildlife that we love. Let’s not be responsible for adding any further animals to our already endangered lists.

Don’t follow the stupid mistakes we Americans made, allowing some of our birds to disappear from our lives. Remember, once they are extinct, you don’t get a “do over”!
