Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_web.jpg

Palm cockatoos are pretty incredible birds.

To woo lady palm cockatoos, males make drumsticks from branches and seed pods and beat their own rhythms while whooping and flapping their wings. Their rosy cheeks glow vibrant red when they’re excited.

But bulldozers are making them vulnerable to extinction. This cannot go on.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

Australia has one of the highest rates of extinction in the world. The government has not done nearly enough to protect our native fauna such as the Palm cockatoo for the future generations to enjoy. The people of Australian expect and demand much better and action now!

Australia’s rate of species annihilation is shameful, one of the highest on the planet. Corporate greed and political kickbacks needs to stop. Environmental vandalism is a crime. You will be prosecuted unless you act now to stop species homeland degradation.
These animals have a right to a home we are their custodians. Please start to act like one NOW.

Isn’t my rouge cute? I’m a quiet fellow – but there’s something I MUST make a noise about. Did you know there are nearly 2000 Australian species on the edge of extinction – NEVER to be seen again, AND HAPPENING VERY SOON – including me.
We need stronger environmental laws to protect these endangered species. They are as important as any one of us.

Most australians want competent environmental management. We are fed up with the neoliberal agenda the has destroyed environmental protections because you are in the pocket of the mining, gas and petroleum industries who consider australians to be stupid white niggas, here to dig stuff for worthless aussie dollars, then get ripped off by banks, financial institutions and foreign owned utilities.

Maintaining biodiversity is vital for our future. We need it, to keep vital earth systems in check. Deforestation leads to an increased hot island effect, reduces rainfall as plants are a part of the water cycle, and reduces carbon storage which is essential considering climate change is impacting us more and more. The creatures kept alive by maintaining their habitat also play a significant role for the ecosystem. Even if you don’t respect these creatures as incredible in their own rights, they need to be preserved for our own benefit. It is illogical to focus on short term financial gain when the cost is a long term struggle: humanity cannot be sustained if mass extinction continues

There is increasing evidence of decreasing populations of wildlife here where I live on the edge of Brisbane, even though there are forests surrounding this area. I am especially concerned at the diminishment of bird sitings .
We need more environmental protection laws for our native flora and fauna.
So I’m lodging an alert for the palm cockatoo, the black cockatoo and all the birds that are trying to cope with disappearing habitat.

Hi! Could you please speak out on my behalf to strengthen animal protection laws by promoting any actions that help protect their habitat? It’s so sad and I feel so helpless trying to do this by myself, but together we could do positive things to make sure my young daughter can see these animals in her future. Thank you Ms Banks, yours, Sarah.

Can you be the one who takes the lead as a role model by taking the responsibility to say STOP? How can we possibly let our children know that we let this happen? That we let our QLD forests be bulldozed? And why is this a hush hush issue? In February I read in the Economist that is is estimated that 45m animals were killed in QLD’s bushland bulldozing between 2015 and 2016. Why are the permissive forestry laws there when the government spends billions on conserving native species, planting and fighting climate change? There is clearly a huge rift in priorities and this makes us believe that we can’t rely on anyone to stand up for sustaining our precious environment.
Please be the one that makes a stand and leads by example. Do not let our ancient land be raped by logging companies.
