Coles and Woolworths both claim they’re doing good things for our climate.

So why are these supermarkets both card-carrying members of one of Australia’s shadiest climate-wrecking lobby groups: the Business Council of Australia (BCA)? It just doesn't check out.

Over the past few decades the BCA has strategically undermined a long list of climate policies in Australia. As a result, climate pollution in this country is going up, not down like it must if we are to continue enjoying life on our beautiful planet.

By weakening the BCA’s membership, we can neutralise their influence over climate policy in Australia – and get back on track in building a future that’s good for everyone and every living thing.

Sign the open letter now asking Coles and Woolworths to leave the climate-wrecking BCA:

As customers, shareholders and employees of Coles and Woolworths, we call on the supermarket giants to leave the Business Council of Australia (BCA) – it continues to undermine climate policy in Australia and advocate for the weakening of environmental laws.

We are concerned about the climate crisis and want action.

It’s time for businesses to invest in renewable energies and ditch fossil and nuclear fuels. This is the 21st century after all. Time for the Third Industrial Wave. Come on Coles and Woolies, step aside from fossil fuel led BCA and step in to the future.

I shop regularly at both Coles and woollies, but I will talk with my dollars if they stay in climate wrecking or are not actively supporting environmental care within the next year…visibly so, not just words.

Please please please!!! Be responsible and stop supporting a company that is contributing heavily to climate change. Lives are being lost and habitats destroyed. Mother nature is falling apart. Make a change and cut your ties, NOW! You cannot mess with what was here before us, without facing dire consequences.

I call on you to leave the BCA as it continues to undermine climate policy in Australia. Think about the future of this beautiful country.

Quite a few companies have now made the move.
Why?
Think about it for a minute.
It makes good business sense.
People do not want to support companies who do not genuinely care for this earth and for the children of the future.

If this planet is rendered by climate warming barely inhabitable by our species, no amount of Capital and no economic theory nor profit will answer that catastrophe. The situation is very like that predicted some 200 years ago, in the early stages of classical economic, by Malthus.

And certainly no persecution in this country by the Scott Morrison government, of those who are active for change in climate policy (indeed, Morrison has no policy), no such persecution will in the slightest retard that catastrophe.

Please help by the gesture we ask, that your firm reject the Business Council of Australia, which is a major force influencing our mindless government.
