As bushfires rage across the country, the Queensland government is considering a secret deal with Adani that could mean the coal corporation pockets hundreds of millions of dollars of public money for its climate-wrecking mine.

Analysis by The Australia Institute shows Adani’s special coal royalty deal could be worth between $250 and $700 million dollars. The Palaszczuk Government has refused to reveal the terms of this shady arrangement, claiming it’s too confidential for us to know about.

Our elected representatives have a responsibility to create a future where our communities, reef and wildlife thrive, not prop up dirty coal.
Add your name to this open letter to send the Premier a clear message — no dirty royalty deal for Adani:

“Dear Premier,

During the last Queensland election you promised there would be no public money for Adani’s climate-wrecking coal mine.

If Adani’s mine goes ahead it would unleash billions of tonnes of pollution, at a time when we must rapidly phase out coal and take urgent action on the climate crisis.

We ask you to keep your election promise and not cut a special royalty deal with Adani.”

This will not makes jobs but will again let our land be sold to overseas investors. It’s about time Morrison and his party woke up and all the other politicians who should remember they are paid by the tax payer!!

No new coal mines . We have drought and bushfires. If he needs subsidies it’s obviously not viable . The buck stops with you . I will hold you personally responsible if the Gt Artesian Basin is affected and will take legal action accordingly .

We don’t need to support Me Adani in his ventures!!..
He is wealthy enough to support himself!!
Don’t spend Queensland tax dollars on a spoilt billionaire, there are much more worthy causes that need that support!!

It is time for all leaders, all corporations and all citizens to take responsibility and choose conservation and environmental preservation over corporate profit. This mine belongs to last century and it is unthinkable that any current day government or leader would even consider supporting it, in any way.

Revoke the royalty deal with Adani or loose at the next election.

Absolutely disgraceful. Adani, a company which should not be here, f9r a project no financial intuition would fund, and will only hurt all Australians in the long run. Shame on you

Premier Palaszczuk, please, in the name of humanity and the environment, stop backing Adani and his incomprehensibly stupid project.
Why any politician would support this madness, knowing what we now know about climate change, is beyond belief.
I voted for ALP at the last State and Federal Elections but I promise you, I WILL NOT vote for you nor support the ALP again as it appears that you are completely behind the Adani madness.
For too long now, politicians have buried their heads in the sand and blindly supported big business and their greed driven goals that provide minimal jobs for workers but bolster the bank accounts of obscenely rich overseas billionaires.
I, like many other Australians, will now support Independents in the diminishing hope that someone in politics still retains some sort of a Moral Compass when it comes to the Environment and the future of Humanity.
I live in hope that Labor might regain the moral compass they once had and work for the people of Australia rather than for big business. At this stage, you’re no better than the lnp leeches who are ruining Australia.

Dear Premier, I’m writing to express my concern at your secret deal with Adani that may mean that this polluting mine may receive public funds. Why should Australian taxpayers fund an enterprise from which the profits will flow overseas? Furthermore, as Premier of Queensland you should take seriously the possible damage to the Great Barrier Reef. No secret deals in our free country. Sincerely, Jean Dawson
