As bushfires rage across the country, the Queensland government is considering a secret deal with Adani that could mean the coal corporation pockets hundreds of millions of dollars of public money for its climate-wrecking mine.
Analysis by The Australia Institute shows Adani’s special coal royalty deal could be worth between $250 and $700 million dollars. The Palaszczuk Government has refused to reveal the terms of this shady arrangement, claiming it’s too confidential for us to know about.
Our elected representatives have a responsibility to create a future where our communities, reef and wildlife thrive, not prop up dirty coal.
Add your name to this open letter to send the Premier a clear message — no dirty royalty deal for Adani:
“Dear Premier,
During the last Queensland election you promised there would be no public money for Adani’s climate-wrecking coal mine.
If Adani’s mine goes ahead it would unleash billions of tonnes of pollution, at a time when we must rapidly phase out coal and take urgent action on the climate crisis.
We ask you to keep your election promise and not cut a special royalty deal with Adani.”

Climate change
Global warming & big drought in SE Qld, equals no to Adani and any greenfield coal mine anywhere.
NO TO ADANI.
Please stop this mine now. The majority of Australians do not want it!
Just no! Don’t be so stubborn and move with the rest of the world… you made a mistake letting Adani in but just be the bigger person and admit it.. it’s not too late and EVERYBODY will thank you for it
We implore you. Please do what is right by the taxpayers, the environment, our children and our land. Say no to Adani.
It’s time for Qld Labor to show leadership. Stop mining coal.
There are may reasons to stop Adani, in particular, their environmental and ethical record etc.
These coal mines plan to use excessive water, which is criminal.
That much money in Qld could do so much good
Dear Qld government. There should be no secret deals regarding royalties with Adani. It cant stand on its own financial feet. In a time when we have raging bushfires, its insane to enlarge a water hungry industry that will also add fuel to climate change. Please stop putting public money into a company that supplies a pittance of jobs with little return.
Our government should not be giving and money or free rights to Adani. He is using our land and our water, now owns his own port in Australia and apparently has funds to support his venture. No way should he be able to have our rights to royalties diminished or ended.
No Water No Money No adani
This mine should gave never been given approval. No tax payer money should be given or loaned to Adani, and they should have to pay maximum Royalties.
