As bushfires rage across the country, the Queensland government is considering a secret deal with Adani that could mean the coal corporation pockets hundreds of millions of dollars of public money for its climate-wrecking mine.
Analysis by The Australia Institute shows Adani’s special coal royalty deal could be worth between $250 and $700 million dollars. The Palaszczuk Government has refused to reveal the terms of this shady arrangement, claiming it’s too confidential for us to know about.
Our elected representatives have a responsibility to create a future where our communities, reef and wildlife thrive, not prop up dirty coal.
Add your name to this open letter to send the Premier a clear message — no dirty royalty deal for Adani:
“Dear Premier,
During the last Queensland election you promised there would be no public money for Adani’s climate-wrecking coal mine.
If Adani’s mine goes ahead it would unleash billions of tonnes of pollution, at a time when we must rapidly phase out coal and take urgent action on the climate crisis.
We ask you to keep your election promise and not cut a special royalty deal with Adani.”

Queensland get your shit together and quit pushing this Adani coal mine! Focus on renewables, focus on permaculture, focus on sustainable farming practices!
Let’s fix this world not fuck it up with project like adani!
It’s time to stop propping up polluting industries & invest elsewhere. Adani is basically a crook who should NOT be allowed anywhere near our scarce & precious water resources!
If they want OUR resources then they should be paying top dollar for them.
No money for Adani’s climate-wrecking coal mine….money for renewable energy, Great Barrier Reef protection, ground water conservation instead!!!
Don’t break your election promise A.P.!
I am a voter!!!!
It does not assist the Australian people or environment to continue to negotiate with Adani. They have give false and misleading information throughout the process. Time to acknowledge they are not suitable and do not prop them up with hardworking Australian citizens taxes. Stop allowing them to put our environment at greater risk.
Progress at any price is too big a price
Please don’t subsidise Adani. Queenslanders can’t afford the risk.
In response to the IPCC report and the consensus of 97% of scientists who agree that global heating is a human made problem, this country ought to commit to a policy of no new fossil fuel extractive operations. it is appalling that where governments allow these operations to commence, they build in the strong possibility that tax payers (of whom approximately 70% believe the country needs to do more to mitigate the climate crisis), may also need to bear the cost of these operations.

Revoke the ‘Royalty Deal’. The Foreign owned mined should NOT receive any Tax Payers or Government subsidies or assistance.!
We can’t afford the financial, environmental, social or Global impact of Adani! Do what is right and stop this mine and the many impacts it threatens!!!!
I live in NSW but holiday in QLD.Destroying QLD and the Barrier Reef would stop me and many others from holidaying there…..Where will the government get taxes if tourism is impacted.
Standard asset. Don’t do it!
We don’t need to invest in coal and we must not give our resources away.
We do not want our taxes going to a billionaire for a coal mine that the majority of Australians do not want. Spend our money on innovative, clean energy that benefits future Australians & the planet
