About Nick Cook
Nick is a Co-founder and current Chairperson of the Western Australian Tree Canopy Advocates Inc (WATCA), an organisation dedicated to retaining and improving urban canopy. Nick will talk about the origins of the tree canopy advocates (TCA) movement, and its purpose. He will discuss the current dire state of Perth's canopy crisis. WATCA currently has 26 TCA groups in communities across the Perth metropolitan area and the regions, from Geraldton to Bunbury, with a community of around 20,000 supporters. WATCA is actively engaged with multiple stakeholders, including Local and State governments in its pursuit of a 30% by 2040 urban canopy target and the regulation of the removal of significant trees.
