Dear Graham,

As constituents of Moreton, we ask you to table a Private Member’s Motion in the House of Representatives drawing attention to growing opposition within the community to the proposed Adani coal mine in the Galilee Basin of Central Queensland.

We believe the Carmichael mine should not go ahead because of the environmental damage it will cause to the Great Barrier Reef and our climate, and because of serious doubts about its economic feasibility.

We also strongly believe that funds from the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility should not by loaned to Adani Group to finance the construction of a rail link from the Galilee Basin to the Abbot Point coal port.

Because of the growing threat posed by climate change, Australia should be moving rapidly towards renewable energy. We support a just transition for existing coal communities, but the world is moving on and it’s clear there should no new coal mines or coal-fired power stations.

This whole issue is potentially catastrophic and insults our intelligence and dignity. Graham, please do all you can to stop it.

Please support our children’s environment against corrupt corporate interests like Adani and their political stooges. Fund re-newables instead.

Our country is too smart to continue with these archaic business models. Our environment is too unique to wreck it with offshore profiteering. Let’s lead the world on renewable technology!

Dear Graham
I feel that the Adani Coalmine puts the generation of profits before a unique natural Australian resource. The reef belongs to the people of Australia, the destruction of this environment is unacceptable. Ensure whilst you are in a position of influence that this does not occur on your watch. We trust you will do your best to represent this sentiment in the opposition to the development of the mine.
Warm regards

Please do not allow Adani to be subsisidsed to ruin our natural environment

Putting a mega coal mine so close to the reef makes no sense. Why we are still investing in non-renewable energy makes no sense.

We are horrified by the damage the Adani mine would cause, both directly through its construction and operation, and via its impacts on climate change. For the sake of our climate, landscapes, and irreplaceable reefs, please speak out against this mine.

Does not stack up on environmental grounds, will not create jobs and will undercut existing mines in the State. Drop it.

Malcolm Turnbull, this mine is a JOKE and if you let this happen it just goes how much of a joke you really are.

Surely this can’t happen; besides the enviromental damage this will cause, there are serious concerns over Adani’s reputation, integrity and environmental record. Don’t let this be a $ over commonsense .
