The Mermaid Pools Restoration Project is a community environmental project that aims to restore the pools at Manly Vale to their former glory. The project is run by the Save Manly Dam Catchment Committee and volunteers meet regularly at the site to do a variety of tasks such as weeding, removing rubbish, and more! You can find more information about the group and their future sessions on their Facebook page here, and you can find all the information about the event on Facebook here.
The next session is on Saturday, 26 March, and will mark 20 years of restoration at the site, which is a huge achievement from the team! After all the recent storm activity there'll be two teams on the day, one to focus on rubbish removal and the other to focus on weeds, so have a think about which one you'd like to join!
The volunteer work conducted at the site is part of the Northern Beaches Council's Bushcare program, and tools and supervision are provided. We'll meet outside the UNSW Water Lab gates before heading to the site to begin!
