Spotting stunning marine life is a common occurrence for residents on the South Coast. Merimbula is a temporary home for many migratory species such as orcas, southern-right whales and birds like Plovers and Oystercatchers.
Let's spot for science at Long Point Lookout! The annual east-coast whale census is coming up on the 25 June and we'd love your help. The data collected goes towards advocating for these incredible mammals and their marine home.
The ACF Eden-Monaro group will be hosting a contingent participating in the ORRCA (Organisation for the Rescue and Research of Cetaceans in Australia) led event.
ORRCA's event will run all day, but the ACF contingent will join in from 10am-12pm.
Make sure to bring:
We'll be meeting at the start of the track on the corner of Cliff St and Tasman St. The track to the lookout is 1km and 2km roundtrip.
There is limited car parking available at the track head so you may need to park along the street (just ensure you don't accidently block someone's driveway.).
The path is suitable for wheelchair users who have someone to assist them.
