The ACF Community Brisbane Northside is hosting this free zoom event on the environmental significance of mangroves, which will be presented by mangrove expert, Jock Mackenzie, from earthwatch.

  • Mangroves play a huge part in climate change, sequestering more carbon than land trees.
  • They are important habitat for fish, other sea creatures, and migratory shorebirds.
  • They protect our shorelines from erosion.
  • Moreton Bay mangroves are a vital part of our Ramsar listed wetland area of international importance.
  • Mangroves are at risk.

Jock will expand your knowledge about why Moreton Bay is an internationally listed Ramsar Wetland area of global significance. He has been establishing mangrove Citizen Science activities along the Queensland coast for 15 years, usually involving participation by school students.

Please RSVP to receive the link to this zoom event.
