A thriving future for Queensland means protecting our land, water & climate and transitioning to renewable energy. These are big issues and we need to raise their profile for Longman voters and local media.

That’s why Farmers for Climate Action is hosting the Longman Community Forum: Protecting our land, water and climate.

The by-election candidates from the two major parties will be at the forum to speak to these issues and answer questions from the audience.

A huge turnout at the forum will show just how important acting on climate damage is to their constituents.

The forum will include an excellent panel of speakers featuring:

  • CEO of Farmers for Climate Action, Verity Morgan-Schmidt, to explain how climate change is already affecting Queensland agriculture
  • Longreach grazier Jody Brownabout, to share concerns about the Adani mine going ahead
  • Groundwater expert Tom Crothers, to speak about the problems with Adani's free unlimited groundwater licence
  • CEO of the Climate Council, Amanda McKenzie, to outline how Queensland can transition to renewable energy
