Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_StripedLeglessLizard.jpg

Nowadays, these sleek little critters are legless – but they weren’t always. Through evolution, their front legs disappeared completely and their back legs ended up just small scaly protrusions. But they can still jump 30 centimetres into the air!

But Legless Lizards can’t outrun the destruction of their habitat.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

Landclearing and habitat destruction is an international disgrace. We need to do something now before nothing’s left

Australia still has a wide variety of wild life. We don’t want to be like other countries , e.g . Japan , where they have hardly any wildlife.

Yet another victim of land clearing by developers and deforestation. The government has a lot to do!

We need much stronger environmental laws to conserve what we have left, before our vulnerable animals, insects and overall biodiversity become trapped in a museum. Protect them like you would want to be protected if your home was facing unjust demolishment.

So another species reaches a critical point in population levels and habitat loss.
This is what a BIG AUSTRALIA with continued growth in population is going to do – continue to add yto the mass extinction rate we have in this country that isthe 2nd highest on the planet.

Hi,
Australia has the highest extinction rate of threatened species in the world. They can never be replaced. How can you let this happen? As a Nation we arrogantly tell other nations what to do while having a pathetic record ourselves. How can you let this happen???

Australia is a very fragile environment where a unique set of animal species if present due to the isolation from the rest of the world so strict and clear enviroment legisation in place is a important factor for the survival of the animal species.

I am 17 years of age, and I plan to travel and see the world when I graduate high school. I fear that we are losing our environment at such a rapid rate that I will not be able to experience our native flora and fauna when I travel around Australia.
This rapid loss is devastating, and it is up to the people of Australia to voice a need for change, but it is up to our government to listen. Please, on behalf of the young people who are yet to see the beauty our country has to offer, hear us now before it is too late.

We need stronger environmental laws so that these animals are protected in their native habitats. I’d like to think that my great grandchildren would be able to see these animals in their natural surroundings rather than in zoos or as glossy images in books or video or other media forms.

In this stressful time of climate change, we need to preserve our forests for our own survival as well as the survival of our unique Australian species.
Please strenghten the laws protecting our natural environment.

I believe that animals have a right to live on this earth just as much as we do. However, we are destroying their habitat and causing extinction of species.

Please ensure that land is put aside to protect habitat and the creatures living them, and support strong national environmental laws.

Thank you.
