This is an independent, COVID-safe event run by our allies at Nature Conservation Council NSW.
There are few better sites than watching the big-bottomed marsupials bound up a Eucalyptus, or munch on some leaves, or cuddle up and sleep. Cute, remarkable, and only found on one continent on Earth.
Unfortunately, habitat destruction is pushing koalas to the brink, and this iconic marsupial is now on track for extinction in the wild by 2050 unless the New South Wales government takes urgent action.
We all need a home to live in. And while koalas cannot speak for themselves, and point out that further habitat destruction would be devastating for the survival of their species, we can.
It’s why our allies at Nature Conservation Council NSW have organised a rally for koalas this Saturday at Hyde Park, Sydney, from 11am. Will you come along?
This is a great opportunity to show our elected representatives just how important it is to protect and restore koala habitat in our state.
Covid safety information
This is a COVID-safe event. That means a maximum of 500 people. If more than 500 people come on the day you may be asked to leave (which means you can pick a busy street corner and host a pop-up rally of your own!) You will be required to check in to assist with contact tracing should the need arise.
Remember to wash your hands before and after the event and bring your own hand sanitiser and face masks. If you don’t have any, we’ll have some available for free on the day. Always stay 1.5m away from others if you can help it.
Consider walking or cycling if you need to avoid packed public transport and don’t share food or drinks.
