It’s time to get out and plant with like minded people and gain a sense of joy at improving our local natural environment. We haven’t had many opportunities of late to work together as a group. So I want to suggest we get together on Saturday afternoon,16th of July from 2 - 4pm for a planting session on the Maribyrnong River at Burndap Park, Maidstone.

I’ve spoken to Maelor  (from our group who coordinates much of the planting along the river) and Martin (from City of Maribyrnong) and they think this would be a good opportunity for us to get together to plant. Martin will demonstrate the methods he uses for getting plants into the ground and later in the afternoon he will talk to us about the positive impact the planting is having on local biodiversity. (FYI: ACF’s focus is currently biodiversity. The data on the degradation of our biodiversity is staggering).

Hopefully we can follow the event with some afternoon tea.

This is a great activity to do with your children, partner or friend. I go out most Tuesdays with my granddaughter and she loves it…. she now has ownership of the places we plant at, and will visit in the future to see the plants she and her nana planted.

So if you are interested please let me let me know  (soonish) so I can confirm numbers with Martin, and provide more accurate information regarding accessing the site.
