We're excited to hold our second Issues & Stories webinar on the last Monday evening of November.
This time we have invited Fiona Davis, the CEO of Farmers for Climate Action, and Stuart Fraser, a local champion for the box ironbark habitat of Wellsford Forest, to speak.
Fiona brings a highly visible national profile to the Farmers for Climate Action movement of smart farmers and their supporters. She will enlighten us on the work of the FCA movement, how they are hoping to bring about better climate policies and how we can be involved.
Stuart Fraser, through his work as a bee keeper, has built up an extensive knowledge of the region's environment, particularly of the box ironbark habitat of the Wellsford Forest on the outskirts of Bendigo. Since 2010 he has been involved in a campaign to protect this forest, from being severely impacted by logging and recreational vehicle use. In 2021 this campaign was lost (temporarily?) when the State Government put mining interests above environmental protection despite it being a critical biolink between important conservation areas providing a habitat for rare and threatened flora and fauna. From Stuart we will learn more about the habitat that holds his passion and his work as a conservationist.
