Join the ACF Geelong as we present a movie night to raise fun and funds to support our work to oppose the proposed Viva and Vopac gas terminals in Corio Bay.
We will be screening two inspiring films, serving yummy meals (including dessert and drinks), and also holding a silent auction with some fantastic items on offer.
THE GIANTS explores the intertwined fates of trees and humans in this captivating portrait of environmental folk hero and gay icon Bob Brown who took green politics to the centre of power. From a seedling to forest elder THE GIANTS interweaves Bob’s extraordinary story with the lives of the ancient trees he is fighting for. Drawing on Bob’s lifetime of activism, from the Franklin River to the Tarkine, THE GIANTS is a rollercoaster tale that will leave you hopeful and inspired to make a difference.

Heart of Country is an ACF documentary and truth-telling journey filmed across Australia, exploring First Nations connection to Country, culture and climate. Narrated by ACF First Nations Lead Josie Alec, Heart of Country discovers common threads and brings storylines together with a focus on water, the heartbeat of this huge and ancient continent and the carrier of songlines across millennia.
The focus of the evening will be to raise money and highlight the work of our group - we are revving up again to challenge the proposed gas terminal in Corio Bay; working with the Real Deal initiative to alleviate social housing issues and rental availability and affordability, and supporting environmental initiatives in the Geelong and Surf Coast region.
