We're facing a pollution and extinction crisis. With habitat disappearing and the web of life fracturing, creatures like the greater glider, southern corroboree frog and palm cockatoo are vanishing before our eyes.

But right now, the Turnbull Government is threatening to cut the jobs of 60 people who work to protect these incredible animals.

This is outrageous. A good government would be doing more to protect our threatened creatures from extinction, not slashing the critical work their survival depends on.

Sign the petition calling on Minister Josh Frydenberg to save critical jobs in the Department of Environment and Energy.

By signing, you’re standing with the ACF and CPSU (Community and Public Sector Union) communities to speak out for thousands of threatened creatures and the people who work to protect them from extinction.

Our government should act responsibly and conscionably regarding the sustainability of the Australian web of life – the mineral, plant, and animal realms. They are all interconnected and interdependent, and have been since they first came to existence. Habitat preservation should be a top governmental priority, but this is not the case.
The government is supposed to act in the peoples interests, but this also is not the case. We the people should not have to defend ourselves or the environment against vested economic interests that are destroying both nature and society wholesale and at an alarmingly accelerating pace. DO NOT CUT THE JOBS OF ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENDERS! The future of the whole planet is becoming more precarious with each species lost, each habitat destroyed, each gaping wound inflicted on the Earth through mining “resources” meant for the web of life’s needs, not economic profits. Government is failing both people and planet and it needs to lift its game before it’s too late!

Protecting the jobs of the people who protect our wildlife creates jobs for the rest of us – tourism is completely reliant on native animals and healthy landscapes. Tourism already provides jobs for 10% of Australians and delivers $107 billion in revenue. Yet our government prioritises big business lobby groups, not because they deliver jobs, but because they deliver dirty donation money to the party bank account.

Shocking that Australian animals are being eaten by cane toads in remote areas of our beautiful outback. Please protect our precious wildlife.

Josh Frydenberg leading the world in species extinction . What an epitaph! Something to be really proud of as our children lament the wilful demise of our native species. You owe this country an explanation.
