Our forests, wetlands, reefs and wildlife are being destroyed at a dangerous rate and our national nature laws are powerless to stop it.

Australia has the highest rate of deforestation in the developed world and has driven more mammals to extinction than any other country. Icons like the koala and gang-gang cockatoo are under threat because we keep destroying their homes.

The Albanese Government’s goal of ‘no new extinctions’ has to be backed up with strong action before even more irreversible damage is done.

It is drafting landmark new laws that will shape how nature is protected (or neglected) for decades to come – nature needs us to speak up now.

Join over half a million people calling for strong new nature laws and an independent regulator to enforce them.

Sign the petition to demand that our national environment laws actually protect nature:

Create a new generation of national laws to protect nature and funding to restore ecosystems to bring our wildlife back from the brink.
