Our national environment laws are supposed to protect the places and wildlife we love.

But the once-in-a-decade review of those laws has found that nature in Australia is in big trouble. Australia has one of the worst extinction records on Earth, and even our most iconic wildlife like the koala and platypus are at risk in some states.

The independent reviewer, Professor Graeme Samuel, recommends a complete overhaul of our national environment laws to protect our country’s unique places, plants, animals and ecosystems for future generations.

Australia has one of the worst extinction records on Earth. It's time for laws that actually protect nature, and an independent regulator to enforce them.

Sign the petition to demand that our national environment laws actually protect nature:

Create a new generation of national laws to protect nature and funding to restore ecosystems to bring our wildlife back from the brink.

I went to the Great Barrier Reef today and most the coral was either dead or dying. It looks dull and had hardly any colour.

All the best in the future you choose for those you cherish ,for children still too young to vote for a sustainable future and for Australia’s wild species and the habitat on which they depend.
